"The Inaugural"
A gorgeous August evening with a cool breeze, no reason to complain about the weather on this occasion. Chefs were set up at their respective stations throughout the Estate vineyard and paired up with Chardonnay from Huff and Pinot Noir from Norman Hardie. Perhaps one of the most memorable servings of this evening was the roasted pork, green beans and roasted potatoes served on a piece of white pine bark! This along with Jamie's spice encrusted Yellow Perch were two of Mr. Pinkus' favourite bites. The evening ended up at the Huff patio with the young jazz foursome, Straight Flush, playing the night away. For a first time event, all would agree it was a resounding success!

"Round Two"
After a successful first year it was decided that we better have a repeat! Once again the weather was on our side and everything was shaping up to be a lovely evening. Guests checked in at the winery and picked up their glass of Huff Rosé and made their way down to the vineyard t osee what gastronomic surprises they were in for this year. Four new faces this time around; Scott Kapitan, Chris McDonald, Dan Sullivan (Rosehall) and Deborah Paskus (Closson Chase). This year Michael Pinkus handed the crown over to Michael Potters for food of the evening for his pan-seared Bay of Quinte walleye with young green garlic which was prepared using a homemade fire-pit built from fractured pieces of limestone from the vineyard. All in all another great year of delicious food and fantastic wine

"Wet'n'Wild"
As the saying goes, "third time's a charm"... not in this case. The weather God's were not on our side for this year's event as the clouds brought on torrential downpours. You would think this would put a damper on things, however, the event coined as "Culinary Boot Camp" was in fact a great success and brought smiles to everyone's faces. A massive marquee provided shelter from above, as the150 guests arrived in all manor of footwear, Wellie's the predominate style. Not to be deterred the crowd sipped and savoured the evening away and wine writer David Lawrason claims it to be the tastiest event in Prince Edward County!

"In the Heat of the Night"
Perhaps as a makeup for the year before, this year's weather brought one very warm evening, "We've certainly gone from one extreme to the other" exclaims winery owner Lanny Huff. Guests of the event this year traded in their galoshes for shorts, summer dresses and sandals and again, nothing but smiles in the crowd. This year Michael Pinkus elected to give the dish of the night honour to Hiro Yoshida for his assortment of sushi served rockside (Tuna, French Mackerel and Butterfish, all smoked). It was a serving that many people came for seconds, thirds and even fourths.

"Under the Big Top"
With rain in the forecast every day leading up to the event the folks at Huff did not want to take any chances, so up went a tent and instead of a walk through the vineyard to collect your food and wine pairings you were warm and dry under the big top. As luck would have it, the rains held off so you could eat with the sun at your back on a variety of benches and tables outside the confines of the tent… though there were tables also set up inside, just in case you did not want to leave the cozy confines of the tented area. This year Michael Pinkus elected to give the dish of the night honour to Denis Cotter for his pan fried haloumi, beet braised puy lentils, harissa, walnut crumb and fava shoot. Who would have thunk the vegetarian would outshine his carnivorous rivals!

"New Faces"
It was nice to welcome some new faces to the event this year including Rocco Agostino, Craig Harding and Season 2 Top Chef Canada winner Carl Heinrich. It was another beautiful evening with a great turn out. The tent atmosphere once again did not disappoint as laughter, cheer and great music filled the air throughout the evening. What can we say, it is a pleasure to host this year after year! This year Michael Pinkus gave two crowns this year for the dish of the night. Carl Heinrich's Montfote sausage, crushed potatoes and pea shoots was nose and nose with Ryan Crawford's House cured 21 month Feathershire prosciutto, local pea textures, Meg's egg ravioli.
